A paradise just an hour away from the Tuscan coast

The island of Elba is not just beautiful beaches and a blue sea, but it is much more. The summit of Monte Capanne can be reached both with the equipped paths and with a comfortable cable car which in about 20 minutes will take you to the top where you will find a small refuge waiting for you with a panoramic terrace where you can sip a high altitude coffee or a classic Italian ice cream. Another area full of trails suitable for both trekking and mountain biking is the promontory of Monte Calamita in Capoliveri which annually hosts the Legend Cup, one of the most important MTB races where many athletes from all over the world participate. The Island of Elba out of season is ideal for those who love walking among nature taking advantage of the mild and temperate climate of the sea with temperatures often higher than the rest of Italy. 


The island is made up of eight small villages each with its own characteristics and all worth visiting: 

- Portoferraio, the capital, is famous for its historic center full of history located just behind its dock, the citadel with its high walls was built by the Medici family, and also famous for having hosted the Emperor Napoleon during his exile. 

- Porto Azzurro, with its square and its promenade is a real lounge on the sea, many clubs, bars, restaurants make it one of the most popular villages in the evening.

- Capoliveri is the town with the most beaches on the island, the quaint old town is made up of many alleys that lead to the very popular square.

How to get to the Island of Elba

The Tuscan Archipelago
